American songwriter and singer, Halsey revealing that she is freezing her egg at just 23 because of endometriosis diagnosis while saying, “I can have a bright future and achieve the things that I want to achieve.” Halsey is the singing sensation behind “Bad at Love”.
She has been open about her struggle with endometriosis and talked about the steps she’s taken to treat it. Recently, she motivated people with uteruses everywhere not to accept that excruciating pain is normal but, it’s not. Halsey revealing about her decision to make sure that she has options when she’s ready to have a baby.
Halsey said, “I’m 23 years old, and I’m going to freeze my eggs.” Further, she added, “When I tell people that they are like ‘why would you do that, you’re 23’…doing an ovarian reserve is important to me because I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility, about protecting myself.”
Mayo Clinic said that endometriosis can lead to infertility. The clinic notes on their website, “For pregnancy to occur, an egg must be released from an ovary, travel through the neighboring fallopian tube, become fertilized by a sperm cell and attach itself to the uterine wall to begin development.” Further, it added, “Endometriosis may obstruct the tube and keep the egg and sperm from uniting. But the condition also seems to affect fertility in less-direct ways, such as damage to the sperm or egg.”
