Another bold decision is taken by the US President Donald Trump. He put the ban on transgender people in the military. He says they cannot assist in “any capacity” in the military. He tweeted his this decision and he also had the discussion with the experts of the military also and said: “tremendous medical costs and disruption.”
His this decision is another decision which is different from the Obama’s as Obama administration permit the transgender people to serve in the military last year. But in the month of June, James Mattis Defense Secretary decided to a suspension of six months in the recruitment of transgender people.
This announcement came through tweets series.
The US President Donald Trump said: “After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in my capacity in the U.S. Military.”
He further said: “Our military must be focused and decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”
The spokesperson Sarah Sanders told reporters at the White House press conference that the step will not go into conclusion instantly. The employment policy needs to work out, she answered the question if the troops who are busy on the battlegrounds would be sent back to the United States instantly.
She said this was a “military decision” and it is “not meant to be anything more than that.”
Well, many of the people are not agree and happy with this announcement of Trump especially the transgender people. There are many people who criticize this action of Trump.
“A direct attack on transgender Americans,” this is said by the LGBTQ campaign group, GLAAD called on the move of Trump.
A retired elite Navy SEAL Kristin Beck challenges Trump in an interview with Business Insider and said: “Let’s meet face to face and you tell me I’m not worthy.”
She further said about her military career that she had been “defending individual liberty.”
“Being transgender doesn’t affect anyone else, she said. “We are Liberty’s light. If you can’t defend that for everyone that’s an American citizen, that’s not right.”
